Bogotá, July 24, 2023. Agroexpo 2023 is positioned as the best edition in history since its first version. There were nearly 600 exhibitors, more than 3,000 animals on foot, it brought together around 200 thousand visitors, it had more than 250 spaces between conferences, talks and meetings and a business roundtable that left business expectations of 2 million dollars, with 637 appointments achieved. These figures show that the fair is the best scenario of opportunities for all the actors that are part of the productive process of the field.
During the 11 days, the fair had an academic agenda featuring the second edition of the Agroexpo Innova forum: Colombia, Agro-Food Power , a space in which the efforts that must be made to ensure the right to availability, access and adaptation of food is guaranteed throughout the national territory based on the production processes that begin in the field were emphasized.
“With the message “We cultivate the agri-food future of Colombia”, we saw how this version was consolidated as a flag and platform of opportunities for our field professionals, who took center stage and together with the participation of different departmental delegations and companies in the sector and the National Government, we made this a successful and historic edition, which tells Colombia and the region that the entire agricultural and livestock sector has much to continue contributing to the nation and the world ,” said Doris Chingaté, project manager of Agroexpo.
This edition also emphasized the efforts made by different government entities, private companies, international cooperation organizations and banks to ensure that the right to availability, access and adequacy of food is guaranteed throughout the national territory based on the production processes that begin in the field, giving the place that farmers and each part of this great chain that is essential for Colombia deserve.
Organizers
This space has been possible for 24 versions thanks to the alliance between the National Union of Colombian Livestock Associations - Unaga and the International Business and Exhibition Center of Bogotá, Corferias, who as organizers and facilitators of Agroexpo have managed to bring together hundreds of entrepreneurs from the countryside in one place, generating exponential business and creating a network of allies at a national and international level.
“With the realization of Agroexpo we are more than committed to fulfilling the goal of Zero Hunger; Colombia, its countryside, its people and its diversity, has everything to adapt a chain that allows food sovereignty, thus reducing the rates of extreme poverty and child malnutrition. We thank each of our exhibitors and visitors for trusting us and allowing us to continue building experiences like Agroexpo, a fair with which we aim to bring the countryside to the city ,” said Andrés López Valderrama, executive president of Corferias.
For his part, Daniel Espinosa, president of UNAGA, concluded that “it is a great satisfaction for us to be able to conclude this version of Agroexpo, which has been a success from every point of view: participation of animals, public and commercial participation. In general terms, it really is an Agroexpo that we have not seen for many years. Without a doubt, a special place as always for cattle breeders to have the opportunity to sell their animals, to market, both at auctions and in stables and where there were magnificent sales and business for each of the 27 associations present. From what we have investigated, we have an approximate figure of 5 billion pesos including auctions and sales in stables. We feel very calm and quite happy with this version, without a doubt the best.”
Exhibitors
With the participation of nearly 600 exhibitors from regions such as Quindío, Caldas, Santander, Boyacá, Casanare and Huila; and countries such as Italy, Brazil, China, the United States, India, Turkey and Venezuela; in addition to the support of national associations such as Fedepapa, Fedepanela, Fenalce, Fedearroz, Fedecacao, Asohofrucol, Fedecaucho, Fedeacua among others, Agroexpo contributed not only to the growth of their businesses and closing of sales, but also to the expansion of their networks of contacts, potential investors and national and international visibility.
For Cesar Ramírez, an exhibitor at Asonormando, “Agroexpo is our window, our showcase to be able to tell Colombia, our region, that it is possible to work as a family, that this is the result of many years of work, that our genetics are spectacular. We are in love with our project because it is what feeds us. We have crossed borders thanks to this fair, my son has already been to Panama and is now in France, in other words, it is the window to tell Colombia and the entire world that it is possible.”
Finally, it is important to tell Colombia that Agroexpo is and will continue to be the most important fair for the production of life for the peasantry, where efforts, projects and initiatives that lead to the growth of production in agricultural chains are highlighted, which allow us to increase the capacity of food produced in our country from the countryside year after year.
We are already preparing for Agroexpo 2025, from July 10 to 20 at Corferias.
